Growing Through Ministry

Growing Through Ministry
In the fall of 2006, an energetic, passionate, and Christ-uplifting AFCOE graduate named Randrick Chance joined the National Association for the Prevention of Starvation (NAPS) organization of which I was a member. After teaming up on a few missions with Chance, he shared with me his experience at AFCOE. I was truly amazed at what he explained and desired to go to AFCOE as well.

In the spring of 2009, I was able to take a semester off from school and attend. Although I already had three years of prior evangelism experience, it was at AFCOE I learned more about God, ministry, and myself.

Through our in-depth classes and rigorous outreach, I learned the true power of ministry. Ministry not only changes the people being ministered to, but also the ones ministering. As we sojourned for souls on Sundays and Thursdays, we met people who would have never attended any evangelistic seminar unless reached through door-to-door visitations. Through our labor, joined with the power of the Holy Spirit, I saw people’s lives changed. They were reconciled back to God. In this process, I grew into an even deeper relationship with God.

Currently, I am a senior in the elementary education program at Oakwood University sharing Jesus with my kids in the public school classroom. It was at AFCOE I learned to use the FORT method and the 4Cs to share my faith in a nonthreatening way. I use these methods to build relationships with my colleagues and students to lead them to Christ.

In addition, I am a NAPS community leader in one of the low-income housing areas in Huntsville, Alabama. The programs we do throughout the week are adult and children Bible studies, tutoring, health fairs, and medical missionary work.
