Will it be possible for me to work during the four-month course to help meet expenses?
We do not recommend that students attempt to work during the program. You will have all you can do to keep up with the classwork and outreach. We encourage you to save up additional money to cover your expenses.
Can I give a donation to help a worthy student attend AFCOE? To give a donation to the general AFCOE student fund, for a specific student, or for questions about donations to AFCOE, please contact us by phone at 916-434-3880.
HOUSING:
Do I need a car to attend the four-month course?
We strongly encourage each student to bring a car if possible. However,
students will share cars during in-the-field training and you might be able
to get by without one. But please be prepared to share in gas money if
you are unable to bring your own vehicle.
What are the accommodations for AFCOE and AFCOE to Go?
See information about housing, meals, and transportation for AFCOE here. Accommodations for AFCOE to Go depend on the location. Please contact us for more information.
Can I bring my pet?
Pets are not allowed on the Weimar campus and/or in the classroom, so please arrange for other accommodations for your pets.
Can I bring children?
Children are not allowed in the classroom, but it is possible for your family to live with you on campus. Contact us for information about family housing options.
PREREQUISITES:
Do I need to be baptized to come?
Generally, AFCOE only accepts applicants who have been baptized. However, exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis. Please call or email us for more information.
Do I need to be a Seventh-day Adventist to attend the four-month course?
We generally encourage people to have been Seventh-day Adventists for at least six months prior to attending AFCOE and encourage them to take the online Bible classes at the Amazing Facts website. In addition, we can provide Bible texts they will be memorizing while at AFCOE as well as other select resources.
Why do I need references?
Due to limited space and heavy demand, AFCOE attempts to ensure that each student is committed to the cause of evangelism. References are just one of the many tools we use to determine an applicant's status. See more application requirements here.
CLASSES, COLLEGE CREDIT, AND WORK OPPORTUNITIES:
Do we study Daniel and Revelation during the course?
Yes. Daniel and Revelation are an integral part of both AFCOE and AFCOE to Go.
Will I learn how to give Bible studies?
Yes! You will learn how to write and give powerful, convicting Bible
studies. You will also learn the essential skills needed to be a
professional Bible worker, evangelist, or an outreach leader in your
church. Check course descriptions for more information on the other
skills you will develop.
Does Pastor Doug teach?
Yes. Pastor Doug teaches classes at both AFCOE and AFCOE to Go. We also have many other experienced instructors and popular guest lecturers for both courses. You don't want to miss it!
How many hours per day do we spend studying?
The AFCOE Complete Course is a very intensive program requiring classroom time, homework, and in-the-field training. You will have very little time to do much else while participating in the class. AFCOE to Go is also very demanding, so please be sure you are prepared to commit to these programs before applying.
Does the course provide college credits?
For information about college accreditation, click here. Only the AFCOE Complete Course offers college credits.
Are graduates assured a job after graduation?
Although our graduates are a sought-after commodity, we do not guarantee job placement or a recommendation following graduation. Recommendations are dependent on a positive, faithful commitment to Christ and to people demonstrated by a student during the program.
OTHER:
What is AFCOE's relationship to the Seventh-day Adventist Church?
Amazing Facts is an independent "supporting ministry" of the Adventist Church. It is listed in the official Adventist Yearbook and works closely with church leadership around the world. Amazing Facts does not receive funding from the church or local conference.
I live in another country and can't afford to come to the Unites States for training. What should I do?
First pray. If God desires to make a way for you to attend AFCOE in America, He will. Currently, part of our AFCOE strategy is to expand and offer coursework in several locations around the world. We now have schools in the United States, England, and the Ukraine. In the coming years, we plan to partner with local people to raise funds for the expansion of the school in the Ukraine and beyond, so check back for schools opening near you. (Please do not call for information about possible school locations other than those listed above.)
