AFCOE Welcomes General Conference President Ted Wilson

In August 2011, Sac Central Church graciously hosted the largest AFCOE to GO in history with more than 200 attendees. Not only was it the largest ever, but also world church leaders from the General Conference came and shared their wealth of experience with students and expressed their support for Amazing Facts and AFCOE. Among these were Ted Wilson, Mark Finley, Jerry Paige, and Derek Morris. Elder Wilson gave a strong word about the mission and message of the church connecting it to the mission of Amazing Facts. “Amazing Facts has been a light to the world for many years through its soul-winning and AFCOE training program, and we look forward to them leading in the future.” Students were challenged to rise to God’s calling in their life to win souls wherever they are in whatever they do. Elder Wilson revealed a plan of the General Conference to reach more than 650 cities around the world by the year 2015 and stated his desire for Amazing Facts and AFCOE to assist in a major role on this project. How exciting that God is using this ministry to send His last day message to reach people around the globe. Surely, the Lord is coming soon!
Students came from literally all over the world including France, New Zealand, Australia, and Germany to receive the AFCOE to Go training. This is evidence that God is working in the hearts of His people everywhere revealing a need for revival and a passion for soul-winning. As the students participated in classes and hands-on outreach, they learned practical, effective methods for reaching their own communities with the gospel that they can take back to their own churches to implement. “I was so amazed at the information that I received. Yet much more than just information, I gained powerful tools that I will be able to use to win hearts to Jesus for the rest of my life.” - Rebecca.
Students also gained valuable training from Global AFCOE instructors from around the world. Directors came from England, Ukraine, and the Philippines to teach and give reports on the miraculous results God has given from each location. They also held strategic meetings throughout the week to discuss how to be even more effective in their individual programs. The AFCOE Global Team also met with Elder Ted Wilson over lunch to receive counsel on how this project can assist the world church in its mission. Elder Wilson expressed his desire to see AFCOE Global go rapidly around the world. “The training that AFCOE provides is vital to our church and has resulted in thousands of souls in the kingdom of God. It remains one of the most effective training programs there is. I give my full support for its international expansion.”
A Q&A panel with Elder Wilson and Global AFCOE leaders on the opening day of AFCOE to Go proved invaluable to the attendees who had hard questions on big city evangelism. They discussed the challenges that face the church in the 21st century but were optimistic that the answer lies above not below. “As God’s people seek Him earnestly for revival, reformation, and a passion for evangelism, God will pour out His Spirit in a marked way, and it will provide what the church needs to finish His work,” Elder Wilson stated.
The week ended with insightful classes from Pastor Doug including, “Ask the Pastor,” where they tapped into his wealth of experience and Bible knowledge. A short graduation service was held with a charge to stay faithful in what they learned. The week ended with a special dedication prayer where staff prayed that God would use them to finish the work. How exciting it will be to see what God will do through them in the next several months and years!
Only God could bring together such an incredible week where so many experienced revival and learned the tools they need to win souls. AFCOE Director Don Mackintosh says, “We are always amazed at the great things God does at AFCOE, and it is a blessing to see so many young people come closer to Christ and receive training for His service. This is what AFCOE is all about. How ‘amazing’ it will be to soon see all the souls in heaven reached through Amazing Facts.”
